why 'shots by lasagne'?
i got called 'anya lasagne' one day and it stuck, and i thought anya ellis photography sounded a bit too big girl job when i started. but..as i sit typing this in my late *gulp* twenties, maybe it's time.
my first instagram account 15 years ago would've been a killer business name. i wonder how much i could sell that username for if i hadn't forgotton the password. i tried my first pet rabbits name (RIP peanut) and qwertyuiop123 - but no luck.
as my bio says, i love photography! but i never really did anything about it.
i went to drama school, and, throughout my studies, realised no one is taking any photos of us doing anything. how else will people remember my friends and i as part of the ensemble in antigone? or the fairytale we had to devise in 2 weeks (which was stressful enough) that we chose to add a musical element to?
i know... lemme look on facebook marketplace, because the snapchat memories and huji app filtered-to-f**k photos just aren't cutting it.
i bought the cheapest camera the closest to my student flat, and began taking photos of dress rehearsals of drama society plays that students were directing. i was shy, and my flatmate was directing one. my first taste of networking.
this sparked the idea of a pop-up backdrop in my west london studio flat with a fitted bedsheet pegged to it, in a hope to create the illusion that you aren't sat in my kitchen that's also my bedroom and living room, one long stride and a pivot from my bathroom.
i remember thinking, "this is great!", let me start charging!
